About Us:

"The purpose of this Sorority shall be to unite its members in the bonds of sincere and lasting friendship, to stimulate one another in the pursuit of knowledge, to promote the moral and social culture of its members, and to develop plans for guidance and unity in action; objects worthy of the highest aim and purpose of associated effort. The purpose of this sorority shall be advanced through the National Convention, and the college and alumnae chapters."

Delta Zeta is the largest national sorority by number of collegiate chapters boasting 158 chapters nationwide and the second-largest based on total membership, with over 247,000 members across the country.


In the fall of 1902, Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, opened its doors to female students for the first time. Three fraternities existed on campus, but sororities were yet to exist. This motivated six young women to create a lifelong sisterhood, fostering with ideas of their own.

On October 24, 1902, these inspiring women- Alfa Lloyd, Mary Collins, Anna Keen, Julia Bishop, Mabelle Minton, and Anne Simmons chose to name their newly created sorority, Delta Zeta.

Mars Hill University is home to the Omicron Xi Chapter of Delta Zeta. Our chapter was founded on April 17, 1993 in Mars Hill, North Carolina.
The Omicron Xi chapter continues to provide opportunities for service, sisterhood, scholastic achievement, and leadership development to women at Mars Hill University.
